Printable Tesla checklists
Two lists most people actually need: delivery-day for buyers, sell-prep for sellers. Print this page or copy items into your notes.
Buyer
Delivery-day / viewing checklist
Use at a Tesla delivery, used inventory pickup, or private-party handoff.
- VIN on car matches contract / bill of sale / listing
- Odometer reading recorded (photo)
- Title status understood (clean / salvage / lien) — docs in hand or escrow plan clear
- Panel gaps, paint, glass, underbody — photos of any issues
- Tires: brand, tread depth feel, even wear; spare/kit if expected
- Charge port opens; cable/adapters included as agreed
- Key cards / fobs / phone key paired or ready to pair
- Software version noted; Autopilot computer / HW noted (Controls → Software)
- Driver-assist features present match what you paid for (verify with seller/Tesla — don’t assume FSD transfer)
- Test: drive, regen, alignment, autopilot engage (if safe/legal), windows, mirrors, frunk/trunk, seats
- Interior: stains, odors, rattles, screen dead pixels
- Insurance bound effective now; lender docs complete if financed
- Payment method completed per your bank’s large-purchase guidance
- Bill of sale signed; release-of-liability plan if you’re the seller side of a trade
- Account: car added to buyer Tesla app; seller removed after transfer steps
Seller
Sell-prep checklist
Before photos and showings.
- Deep clean: cabin, glass, wheels, frunk/trunk, charge cable bag
- Gather service records + export what you can from Tesla account
- Honest photo set (including flaws) + Software/HW screenshot
- Know payoff amount if lien; ask lender about title process timing
- Pull 2–3 trade-in / instant offers to set a floor
- List must-disclose items: accidents, aftermarket parts, Autopilot/FSD purchase vs subscription
- Decide showing rules: location, deposit policy (if any), test-drive policy
- Print bill of sale template appropriate for your state
- Plan release of liability / DMV notice for your state
- After sale: remove vehicle from Tesla account, cancel insurance when buyer coverage starts, keep copies of everything
- Do not factory-reset until ownership transfer is complete and buyer has access
